Our story
It was at the beginning of the 20th century that Salomon Rhein, grandfather of Jean-Charles, settled in Geneva. He left his native Russia at the time when Nicholas II engaged his country in the war against Japan. A few years later, he ventured into the tobacco trade on Rue du Mont-Blanc under the name "Comptoir du tabac." A pioneer and visionary, he distinguished himself in the tobacco products sector by importing Cuban cigar brands. Thus, Habanas gradually took the place of cigarettes, whose market was flooded by offerings from the United States.
Through the generations, the family business has acquired undeniable expertise and offers an impressive variety of the rarest products. Today, a century later, Maison Rhein stands more than ever as a custodian of the Havana cigar around the world. Operating today under its new name in Geneva and internationally through its online offering, Rhein Cigars is gradually becoming a guarantee of quality and thus a true reference in Cuban cigars.
